Galvanized round pipe
- Product Description
-
Galvanized round pipe is a type of round steel pipe with a zinc coating on its surface. Here is a detailed introduction to it:
Basic Information
Material and Specifications: Typically made from low carbon steel or alloy steel, common materials include Q235, etc. Its specifications are diverse, represented by nominal diameter (DN), such as DN15, DN20, DN25, etc., with corresponding outer diameters of approximately 21.33mm, 26.90mm, and 33.70mm, respectively. The wall thickness also has various options, ranging from 2mm to 5mm.
Galvanizing Process
Hot-dip galvanizing: The round pipe is first pickled to remove iron oxide, then cleaned with ammonium chloride or zinc chloride aqueous solution, and sent into a hot-dip galvanizing tank, where a physical and chemical reaction occurs between the steel pipe substrate and the molten galvanizing liquid, forming an alloy layer that tightly bonds the substrate and the coating. The hot-dip galvanizing layer is thick, generally between 40 to 60 microns or even thicker; for extra thick hot-dip galvanized steel pipes, it can exceed 100 microns, with strong adhesion and excellent corrosion resistance.
Electro-galvanizing: This method uses electrolysis to deposit a zinc layer on the surface of the round pipe. The zinc layer is relatively thin, usually only a few microns to a dozen microns, and the zinc layer is independently layered from the steel pipe substrate, resulting in weaker adhesion and poorer corrosion resistance, although it has a bright and uniform appearance.
Features
Good corrosion resistance: The zinc layer forms a zinc oxide film in the air, which can prevent oxygen and moisture from contacting the steel, preventing rust and corrosion. For example, galvanized round pipes used in outdoor construction fences and power tower support structures can withstand wind and rain erosion for a long time.
Certain strength and toughness: The round pipe shape allows it to evenly distribute force when bearing pressure and weight, providing high strength and good toughness, making it suitable for constructing various structural frameworks, such as building scaffolding and greenhouse frames.
Excellent processing performance: It is easy to cut, weld, and bend, and can be customized into different lengths and shapes according to specific engineering needs, facilitating installation and use. For example, it can be bent into arcs for creating special decorative structures.
Aesthetically pleasing appearance: The zinc layer on the surface gives it a certain luster, making it look neat and attractive, suitable for places where appearance is important, such as indoor decorative handrails.
Application Fields
Construction Industry: Used for building scaffolding, protective railings, formwork supports, etc. It can also serve as building water supply and drainage pipes, but must meet relevant sanitary standards when used as water supply pipes.
Mechanical Manufacturing: Used to manufacture various equipment's drive shafts, support shafts, and conveying pipelines. For example, in the material conveying system of automated production lines, galvanized round pipes can be components of the conveying pipelines.
Electric Power Industry: Can be used as protective pipes for electric power cables, preventing external damage and corrosion to ensure safe power transmission. It is also used in structural components such as cross arms for utility poles.
Agricultural Sector: Commonly used in constructing greenhouse frames, its strength and corrosion resistance can meet the long-term usage needs of greenhouses, providing a good growth environment for crops.
Automotive Manufacturing: Certain automotive parts, such as exhaust system pipes, sometimes use galvanized round pipes to extend the service life of components due to their corrosion resistance.
